FEATURED TIP
Three Important Tips to Help Your Pets Get Along from Laura Young

If there's one thing Laura Young, owner of the famous Pumpkin the Raccoon, knows, it's pet relationships. In this week's Dog Trainer newsletter, she shares three tips for helping your pets get along—plus, a bonus three tips from Pumpkin herself!

Rule Number One
When you are first introducing a new pet to your existing animals make sure you do it one at a time and slowly. It is important for each animal to feel comfortable and at ease so there is little stress involved, for you and the animals.

Rule Number Two
During dinner time it is best to make sure they are all fed at the same time but slightly apart. That way if one eats faster than the other there won't be the need to be greedy and enjoy the other pet's food.

Rule Number Three
Make sure each of your pets receive lots of love and attention. Sometimes there can be jealousy and the need to be dominant but equal love can help calm the stress of that.

Rule Number One
Always ensure that the smallest creature in the house is given extra treats. Always. One treat is just not enough.

Rule Number Two
When positioning oneself on the sofa always make sure the smallest creature in the house is given the most amount of space. This is very important to ensure that there is ample room to stretch and play.

Rule Number Three (And this one is very critical)
When it is supper time it is important to allow the smallest creature in the house to receive supper first, and they must be the first to receive seconds, thirds, and then of course bed time treats. And any leftovers should be left by the bed for midnight snacking!
